The Brethren actually had a plot of land on the outskirts of Cranford and the border of Garwood, NJ (my hometown). We would drive by and just see what I would describe as a ”brick cabin” . It had no windows, one off-white door, and an assload of saplings in the enormous backyard; it was bigger than the house itself. The land now has two country style family homes, complete with rocking chairs. All I really remember about them is that they’d show up for standardized testing and go to Pathmark.
